About City Yoga
City Yoga was an inspired idea that came about from a need and desire to provide a space to offer yoga, Pilates, meditation, and natural therapies for a large range of people. We understand the importance of community and hope to create a common connection among our students and friends.
At City Yoga we want to make yoga accessible to everyone. We open our doors to all people regardless of ability, race, ethnicity, religion, gender or sexuality. Our mission is to promote 'unity in diversity'. We are a not-for-profit organisation, so any surplus profit is reinvested in the studio, our teachers and social enterprise.
City Yoga dedicates its work to the late Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, Swami Vishnu Devananda of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres and Pattabhi Jois of Mysore.

Michael is a qualified yoga teacher, trainer, and Sports Therapist. Michael began practicing yoga in 2005 and qualified as a Sun Power Yoga teacher in 2010. He mainly teaches Sun Power Yoga and Hatha Yoga classes bringing together fluidity, grace and creative flowing sequences, precise technique and alignment, as well as attention to the breath, deep relaxation and meditation. This creates a well rounded practice for both the mind and the body. At the end of a class you may feel energised, stronger, more flexible and relaxed. He believes the practice of yoga is unique to each individual and available to everyone. In his classes he will encourage each student to make the practice their own, tuning in to what they need on any given day.
Michael completed his 500 Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in 2013 and is registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 3. Michael is a qualified teacher and trainer. He has earned extra certification to teach Pilates, Yoga on the Ball, Exercise to Music, Circuit Training, and Aqua Yoga.
Zoe teaches Vinyasa Flow Yoga which emphasises the connection between the movement and the breath. She trained with HFE to gain her 200 hour certification in 2015, then went on to complete a further 300 hour certification in Goa, India with Sampoorna Yoga. Zoe has over 20 years experience in dance and acrobatics. She completed her Bachelor of the Arts in movement practice which is incorporated in her classes.
Zoe take a spiritual approach in her teaching, creating a safe and friendly environment that enables her students to develop their practice effectively. Each class is an opportunity to explore and discover what the body can do and how the mind reacts. Each week will focus on a different part of the body from hips, shoulders, or hamstrings, to chest openers, the spine, or balance. Zoe also holds regular workshops in Mediation and Pranayama to deepen your yoga practices which eventually turns your exercise into a moving meditation.
